Motherhood is such a complicated thing. It's full of these little bittersweet moments here and there that just "get you." This afternoon, I laid the kids down for their naps and Madelyn was not happy. She's teething again and the poor thing is so miserable. Well, they must have really been bothering her, because she didn't want to eat, didn't want to nurse and couldn't go to sleep. So I went in there and gave her some Orajel and just sat there and rocked her. What a sweet moment. I never get to rock her. She really didn't like to be rocked much until recently. I think they rock her a lot in the nursery at church because she likes it now. Anyway, I was sitting there, looking into her sweet face and her little body curled up against me, and I just couldn't stop thinking about how she was already eight and a half months old and where does the time go. It made me so sad. And I was sad that that those moments where I can take the time to rock her are few and far between and she won't little enough to rock a whole lot longer. Those little moments are what make all the crazy moments worth it.
This week has been good and uneventful. Which has been nice because our weekends have been really busy. We went down to visit Randy's family this past weekend and Parker got to go fishing for the first time! He went with Papa in his boat and had a big time. I think it was neat for Randy and definitely for Ray (Papa). We grilled out at the lake on Saturday and just had a good weekend.
There's not much else going on around here. Parker is calling Madelyn "Addie Gace" (Maddie Grace) now instead of "Hey." I'm very sad about that. It's still cute, but I'm going to miss him calling her "Hey." He's calling me "mommy" now instead of "mom." That's a welcome change. He's too young to call me "mom."
I have to get off here and get ready for church. Sometime maybe tonight or tomorrow I'll add some pictures that I took over the weekend. Have a good night!

i'm glad to know someone else's 2 year old son calls his mom "mom"!!! jack does that sometimes too, and it just floors me. he's heard someone do it, b/c sometimes he'll come out with "mom, where's dad?" ??? it's so funny to hear it come out of that 2 y/o mouth!!!
it's amazing how those little things can be so sweet, and can make you cry at the same time. i get sad about jack alot too, b/c he won't be my baby much longer and i just want to hang on to it as much as i can!
I just love reading your page. You four are such an amazing family... you make me look forward to parenthood just that much more. Thank you for sharing things like this with us.
I hope you have a great day!! <3
Johanna calls me Mommy AND Mom. She kind of rotates. Addie Gace is soooo cute! I bet it sounds cute! The "Hey" nickname will be one for the baby books, and nice to look back on years down the road.
I love those bittersweet momma moments too. Johanna can push my buttons so badly, but then does something incredibly cute or sweet, and it's like the bad moments are just gone. What a gift children are.
Love.
Parker and Maddie are just two lucky kiddos to have you as a mommy! Your great Jen!
I think thats cute that he called her HEY! lol.. Skyler use to think her name was Skyler AND ... Instead of Skyler Anne! hahaha!
Mother hood is a blessing that comes with many different things .. there is always a curveball thrown at you at somepoint!!
